Do i still need heartworm with biospot?Q: I changed from using a flea and tick collar and interceptor to using biospot. it says it takes care of mosquitoes, so should i still use the interceptor? thanks. A: One of the enemy might sneak through and bite your dogs. be safe, use the interceptor or another heartworm preventative.

Serious flea and tick controlQ: We have a yellow lab that seems to be a tick magnet and a slightly smaller german shepard aust. cattle dog that is less so. they spend a sizable amount of time out doors in a 1 acre area and the lab has multiple ticks removed daily. what would you reccommend. A: Myt favorite product is preventic collar which works great for 3 months as long as not submerged in water which inactivates it. other good choice is frontline plus from 1800petmeds Shop for: tick, preventic collar, 1800petmeds, frontline RingwormQ: What oral med can i give my cats and dogs to get rid of their ring worm while the family is using the antifungal creams? (no time for 3x/week for 6 weeks of shampooing, as much as we love our pets!) A: You would need prescription for medicine like griseofulvin or another known as itraconazole
SkunksQ: What should i use to get the smell of skunk out of my dogs when they get sprayed ? i have a golden retriever who gets sprayed atleast 4 times a summer and he smells for months. A: Great product called skunk off. if not available then could bathe in tomato juice
BiospotQ: I've recently heard of severe spasmodic reactions and even deaths in cats who had been given biospot topical treatments. both my vet's office and the head of a local rescue told me of these problems. they think that using biospot on large dogs seems to be safe, but highly recommended that i avoid using it on my cats altogether. have you heard of more such problems with biospot? where can i find this kind of information? i appreciate whatever help you can provide. A: Unfortunately, these types of reactions can occur with the use of any topical flea and tick product. i usually rfecommend frontline plus because of my experience and the lack of adverse reactions.

Ear mitesQ: I have 2 dogs, one a golden retreiver and a small poodle type mixed breed. they had ear mites and i put in ear-rite insecticidal ear wash. it seemed to do the job for awhile then they came back and i did it again. but i think they didn't get taken care of totally. when i brought my cat in they gave him something they squeezed on his neck. is there something like that, that i could just order on line? A: I doubt the ear mites persist as usually once treated they dont tend to rcur. i would have vet exam of ear and microscopic exam of any discharge to rule out mites from other yeast or bacterial infections of ear. but product you ask about is called revolution which can be preventative against ear mites Shop for: ear mites, revolution
